When this high speed patrol boat of the U.S. Department of Commerce began having issues due to erosion and corrosion damages, the local ENECON field engineering specialist was contacted to help find a substantial solution. The foils, struts and exterior jet drive components were first grit blasted to remove all prior coatings and debris.
The damaged components were then repaired with DurAlloy. The repair’s surface was made as smooth as possible to ensure the boat’s ability of reaching high speeds on the water. To further protect from future corrosion damages, a layer of CeramAlloy CL+AC was applied to the components.
For aesthetic purposes, the CeramAlloy CL+AC were applied in reverse order (blue coat followed by gray coat) at the request of the boat’s engineers.
